GAEL FORCE : MARINE ENGINEERING
Overview
The engineering side of our business has spun out of our involvement in the design and fabrication of concrete caisson feed barges for the aquaculture industry. We have a highly skilled team comprising engineers, fabricators with experience in steel and concrete construction, welders and electricians. The skill sets required to design and build concrete and concrete and steel feed barges have allowed us to respond to market demand and opportunities which has led us into 5 areas of marine engineering – each of which plays an important part in the Group.
Of focused interest to us at present is the marine renewables market – and in particular wave energy harvesting but also tidal energy harvesting where in addition to marine engineering, we have involvement through our specialist mooring services.
At the end of 2008 we finalised the detailed designs of a range of floating homes or AquaHomes which use the same innovative concrete fabrication techniques pioneered in the build of our feed barges for the floating foundation with cutting edge, architect designed topsides.
Gael Force also fabricate steel framed/composite timber decked and concrete pontoons for yacht marinas and harbours, access walkways and platforms, high specification, custom designed aluminium workboats and general marine fabrications including access staircases, ladders and canal lock gate walkways and handrails.
